Green PPR fittings are made of the same polypropylene material as other PPR fittings. The color is just dyed green and it is the most popular color for both PPR pipes and PPR fittings. The green color is meant to differentiate it from standard white and grey PPR.
Pressure Rating
Green PPR is rated for pressures up to 25 bar, the same as other PPR fittings. This makes it suitable for cold and hot water applications.
Temperature Rating
Green PPR fittings have a maximum temperature rating of 95°C, compared to 70°C for standard PPR. This higher heat tolerance makes green PPR suitable for hot water applications.
Code Approval
Green PPR pipe and fittings meet the same code approvals (e.g. ASTM standards) as regular PPR. The green color does not affect compliance.
Cost
Green PPR fittings tend to cost 10-15% more than standard PPR fittings. The price premium is due to the added material cost of the green dye.
Applications
Green PPR is ideal for hot and cold potable water systems where it's helpful to differentiate piping visually. It's commonly used in plumbing, hydronic heating, irrigation systems, etc.
In summary, green PPR is very similar to standard PPR but with enhanced heat resistance. The color provides visual identification and has no effect on pressure ratings or code compliance. It comes at a slightly higher cost due to the colored material.
