Brass Elbow FM is an important accessory for pipe connection. At present, copper pipes and fittings are widely used in heating systems and water supply systems worldwide, mainly due to the unique physical and chemical properties of copper materials.

 

Brass is a Cu-Zn alloy with Zn as the main alloying element, and is called brass because of its yellow color. Most brasses have good color, processability, ductility, and are easy to electroplate or paint. The higher the content of zinc in brass, the higher its strength and slightly lower plasticity. According to the type and content of alloying elements added, brass can be divided into single-phase brass, multi-phase brass and special brass three categories. When the zinc content is less than 36%, a single-phase alpha solid solution is formed, so single-phase brass is also called alpha brass. When the zinc content is 36%-45%, it becomes α+β multiphase brass. When the zinc content is greater than 45%, it has no practical value because of too much β phase and great brittleness. Special brass is on the basis of Cu-Zn, and added Sn, Mn, Al, Fe, Ni, Si, Pb and other elements. For example, adding 1% tin to brass can significantly improve the resistance of brass to seawater and Marine atmosphere corrosion, so it is called "navy brass".

 

Brass corrodes very slowly in the atmosphere, the corrosion rate is not large in pure fresh water (0.0025-0.025mm/ year), and the corrosion rate is slightly faster in seawater (0.0075-0.1mm/ year). Fluoride in water has little effect on the corrosion of brass, chloride has a greater effect, and iodide has a serious effect. In water containing O2, CO2, H2S, SO2, NH3 and other gases, the corrosion rate of brass increases dramatically. It is very easy to corrode mine water, especially water containing Fe2(SO4)3. Severe corrosion occurs in nitric and hydrochloric acid, corrosion is slower in sulfuric acid, and corrosion resistance occurs in NaOH solution. Brass has better impact corrosion resistance than pure copper.

 

The corrosion resistance of special brass is better than that of ordinary brass. Adding about 1% Sn to brass can significantly reduce the dezincification corrosion of brass and improve the corrosion resistance in seawater. Adding about 2%Pb to brass can increase the wear resistance, thus greatly reducing its corrosion rate in flowing seawater. In order to prevent dezincification corrosion, a small amount of As, Sb, P (0.02%~0.05%) can also be added; It contains 0.5%~1.0%Mn in navy brass, which can improve strength and has good corrosion resistance. In brass containing 65%Cu and 55%Cu, 12%-18%Ni is used to replace part of Zn, which is called nickel silver or German silver because of its silver color. This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in salts, alkalis and non-oxidizing acids. At the same time, because a large amount of Ni replaces 2n, there is no dezincification.
